Vocablock ("the app", "we") is an Android vocabulary-learning app published at vocablock.net. For any privacy questions, contact support@vocablock.net.
Your word bank, study progress, quiz history, app-lock selections, and app settings are stored on your device only, in a private sandbox that only Vocablock can read. We do not upload any of this to a server and we have no way to see it.
When you use Settings → Data → Export backup, the app writes a JSON file to a location you choose (Google Drive, Downloads, email, etc.). We don't see, touch, or store that file — you own it.
Vocablock uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect which app you have just opened, so it can prompt you with a quiz for the apps you've chosen to lock. This detection happens entirely on your device. No app names, no usage data, and no quiz answers are transmitted anywhere.
Since Vocablock has no server, a fair question is: what happens to your progress if you uninstall, switch phones, or reset your device? Three things are true at the same time:
.json file of all
your words, progress, and settings to a location you choose (Google Drive,
Downloads, email to yourself). You own that file. Importing it on a fresh
install restores everything.
Vocablock shows non-intrusive banner ads served by Google AdMob. To deliver those ads, AdMob collects:
AdMob processes this data under Google's Privacy Policy and its data practices.
You can reset your Android Advertising ID any time from Settings → Google → Ads on your phone, or opt out of personalized ads entirely from the same screen.
If you live in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we show you a consent dialog (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform) the first time you open the app. You can choose to consent to personalized ads or opt for non-personalized ads. Your choice is remembered on-device and you can change it any time in Settings → Privacy options inside the app.
Required to detect which app is currently on-screen so Vocablock knows when to show a quiz. The service is strictly foreground-package detection — it does not read app content, does not record input, and does not retrieve window content.
Required to show the quiz overlay on top of the app you just opened.
Required so the lock-picker can show you every app on your device. The list never leaves your phone.
Required to keep the quiz overlay running briefly while you're answering. The service stops as soon as the overlay closes.
Required on Android 13+ so the foreground service can show a small status notification while the quiz is visible, per Android platform rules.
So the accessibility-service connection can re-establish after you restart your phone, without requiring you to re-grant anything.
Vocablock is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has installed the app and you are their parent or guardian, you can simply uninstall the app — no data is held on our servers because we don't have any.
Because Vocablock stores your data locally, you have full control:
Your data is stored in Android's private per-app storage, which is sandboxed by the OS and not readable by other apps. Ad-request traffic to AdMob is encrypted with HTTPS.
We do not transfer your data internationally because we don't collect or store data on any server. AdMob may process ad-request data globally under Google's policies.
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app.
